Learn the Facts about Obesity

Obesity is a very common problem in the United States. Nearly one third of U.S. citizens are obese, and more than half of them are overweight. What is the cause of obesity and how can we prevent it?

Obesity has many possible causes that some people would find surprising. The most common unknown cause of obesity is genetics.

Obesity is an issue that sometimes runs in the family. I know this personally, because my father is obese. My brother and sister are also very overweight even though they are active and eat healthy.

One thing that really bothers me about this is that people often assume that because some members of my family are overweight and/or obese they must not exercise or have a healthy diet. This is just completely false information because my family tries really hard to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Diet and exercise are extremely important because they are the main foundation of our weight. Just have some insight to your eating habits so that you can keep your weight at a healthy level throughout your life.

If people are aware of the facts of obesity and how to prevent it, then there might be a better chance of lowering the obesity level in the United States. The one third of the population of America that is overweight includes children, which is kind of alarming.

Starting children off at a young age with a healthy diet and plenty of physical activity could be vital in terms of their weight as they grow and develop. This could decrease the amount of obesity in the U.S. overtime if we keep up this lifestyle in children.

Obese people can also be really healthy because they are the ones who typically eat healthiest and exercise regularly. Even though they are trying to lose weight, they are making their bodies healthier every day. In fact, some obese people might actually be healthier than thin people.

Let’s try to reduce the amount of obesity in America by starting with our kids. When children are taught how to be healthy they will most likely teach their children to be healthy, and hopefully someday less than one third of the American population will be obese.
