Fountain of Youth

As a society, science is always trying to beat the aging process, by creating new products, and promoting healthy eating habits. Scientists have found the key in finding the fountain of youth. New scientific research has found the answer many of us can only dream, which is not aging and maintaining great health. The answer to finding the answers to the fountain of youth is located in our genes; the challenge scientist face is finding the right amount. Once scientists find the right amount of genes to maintain youth, the question to ask is who are we to play God?

With science developing and solving medical issues our culture is getting accustom to finding the proper cure. Unfortunately, finding the correct amount of genes to reduce illness, and reduce the aging process, might lead to scientist playing God. This mentality of creating longevity, and fighting the aging process, demonstrates a tough challenge in population control. Our society should not fear death, aging, and illnesses, because they are a part of life.

Many of us want to live a long and healthy life, the hardest thing is suffering from an illness. Genetic research as a means of reducing the aging process appears great, because illnesses will become a thing of the past. One issue is facing the challenges that will be seen in the population as the aging process slows down. When the country faces a population overflow, the bigger the challenges people will have to resources.

Extending the longevity of humans can be done by finding the correct number of genes, reducing incurable illnesses is good, until people live past 100 years old. If the human lifespan gets expanded to 20 or 30 years, people might fear death. The message the scientific community should continue to introduce is living healthy, and not trying to cheat death. If the fountain of youth becomes a reality, the world may become a chaotic place, with limited resources.

  1. Illnesses will never become a thing of the past. Science simply could not keep up with the thousands and hundreds of thousands of mutations of viral strands. When scientists start messing around with human genetics, the population will be in a dangerous spot: human DNA is incredibly complex and the smallest change in it could cause a mutation, which could be passed on and further mutate in the next generations. Human genetics is not something we should be messing around with. We did not create ourselves, and I agree that playing God would only get us into more trouble.
