Equal Racism

Racism is still alive and well in this country we call home. But lately I’ve uncovered this nasty retort that can only be described as reverse racism. On campus Caucasians may be the majority but that is certainly not the case in Framingham, even the United States. Diversity is one of the most intriguing aspects of America and I’m all for it. However, there are clubs and associations for African Americans, Asians, Hispanics, pretty much every kind of ethnicity but Caucasians. In fact, I doubt you could find a guild of white people anywhere without someone claiming that they’re associated with the Ku Klux Klan. Okay, so Caucasians haven’t had to deal with the hard times like other ethnicities and our forefathers have committed some gruesome acts of racism, but the times are changing. Equality is here.
Christianity and religion in general is another long standing issue that is getting the short end of the stick nowadays. In 2001, Barbara Ehrenreich wrote a book entitled: Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America. This book is being taught as part of an economics class in New Hampshire much to the disgust of many parents. Ehrenreich refers to Jesus Christ as a "wine-guzzling vagrant and precocious socialist." I’ve always been a supporter of free speech but let us not forget that not too long ago the Islamic people were causing an enormous uproar because an American television show was going to depict the figure of Mohammed. If we’re going to start bashing religions, let’s clobber them all equally. If we’re going to continue developing exclusive clubs, let’s have them for every ethnicity. After all, we’re rallying for equality right?
