SAT's

Students heading into their senior year usually only have one thing on their mind: COLLEGE. They just want to finally get through their final year and be done with high school. Deciding where you want to apply to college can be extremely stressful, never mind the part where you actually apply. One thing that comes with that stress is the thought of the Scholastic Aptitude Test. Some of us know it as the SAT. It’s basically a four hour test that will determine whether or not you go to college. Sometimes students will take it two, three, or even four times for fear that their score wasn’t good enough. Not only do you have to sit there for four hours trying to prove that you have some sort of brain, but you also have to pay for it every time you take the test. The current price per test is now $47, that adds up. It just doesn’t make sense that one test could possibly determine one’s future. Let’s face it, some of us are just not good test takers but are extremely knowledgeable. The SAT could throw a doctor or a great politician right out the door. One test cannot determine how well someone can apply their knowledge to different subjects. Honestly, the SAT should be completely eliminated from the process of applying to college. Instead, students should be focusing on more serious matters such as where they want to go in life after high school and what they see themselves doing within the next four years.

  1. I agree with you here. SATS are the worst. I remember my senior year of high school, and the stress that came with it. Touring schools, sending out applications to colleges and Universites and having to worry about a 4 hour exam on a Saturday Morning at a high school. Some people are good test takers and others are not. I fall into the category of being a poor test taker. I don't know what it is, but I do not enjoy sitting in a classroom on a Saturday morning for 4 hours taking an exam. Not to mention, I do not like how many colleges and universites weighs these tests on accpeting or decling a student into their college or university. Not to mention, many schools charge applicants fees to apply to their school. I agree and i believe SATs should be banned and Colleges and Universities should look more on the students grades in school than these SATs
