You know what bothers me? It’s actually kind of sad. But I really can’t stand when people don’t drink soda. It puzzles me. I understand that people like what they like, and they don’t like what they don’t like. I suppose it just irritates me when people stop drinking soda for “health related reasons.” Because really, soda and cancer are one in the same, right?
It’s bad for your teeth, is it? So is a lot of other stuff. But I don’t see you having a problem with that other stuff. Here’s an idea: brush your teeth. I’ve never had a cavity in almost 22 years of life and I drink soda nearly every day. Sure it’s not great for your teeth, I’ll admit it, but really as long as you take care of your teeth, I’m pretty sure you can eat and drink whatever tickles your fancy.
You’re trying to lose weight, are you? So you’re not going to drink soda? Good plan. Although I can’t help but notice you ordered the steak. And then you got dessert. Oh, then you had a second helping. Are you sure it’s the soda that caused you to put on those few extra pounds? There have been too many instances when I’ve seen someone neglect soda in order to seek “healthier options.” They then proceeded to order pounds upon pounds of food. If you’re going to order the most expensive and filling dish on the menu, you may as well go for a drink you enjoy.
I understand that sometimes people can’t drink soda. If you have acid reflux, I’d recommend not having it. I would highly recommend it actually. Don’t put your health on the line to try to please me. And sometimes you’re only supposed to have a maximum amount of sugar per day. If you’ve reached that limit, maybe a soda isn’t the right choice for you.
It’s really not a serious issue, by any means. I almost feel bad that it bothers me. There are so many more important things going on in the world. But with such serious problems going on, I think I’d like to take a second to sit back and crack open a coke. The economy may be in shambles, but at least I can enjoy my drink. Maybe you should do the same?
Soda is unhealthy. That's a fact, and that statement was pretty much the foundation of my "civic problem and solution" project. I can understand why you'd be annoyed by people who don't drink it, but I avoid soft drinks because I simply don't want that sort of stuff in my body. But I hate being preachy about it. As far as I'm concerned, other people can do what they want and I won't judge them for it. My girlfriend has one or two servings of Diet Coke a day, and I'm completely okay with that. If you want to enjoy a Coke, go ahead, but I'll pass.
ReplyDeleteI drastically cut back on my soda intake about a year ago as well as exercising more and trying to eat just a bit healthier. I lost about 30 pounds, and although I haven't kept up the exercise very well since then and still eat about the same, I've continued to keep my soda intake low and I have kept the weight off. It's not the only factor, but it is a significant one.
